A DHC-6 Twin Otter seaplane landed today at Royal Victoria Docks on the River Thames at the end of its proving flight. AirSea Lines is testing the feasibility of seaplane operations from the River Thames.Ê
Said Steven Earle, President and CEOÊ " We are studyingÊ domestic passenger flights from lakes, rivers and harbours across the UK, and can foresee up to 50 AirSea seaplanes operating in the UK in time for the 2012 London Olympics."
AirSea Lines, and its Canadian parent operate seaplane flights between eight Greek locations in the Ionian Sea and Brindisi, Italy.
The seaplane will make a demonstration flight at World Travel MarketÊ at the Excel Exhibition Centre at around 1.30pm on Tuesday November 7, 2006, and departs for its home base in Greece on Wednesday.Ê

A DHC-6 Twin Otter seaplane took to the skies today over the River Thames from the Royal Victoria Docks on a demonstration flight. AirSea Lines is testing the feasibility of seaplane operations from the River Thames.Ê
Said Steven Earle, President and CEOÊ " We are studyingÊ domestic passenger flights from lakes, rivers and harbours across the UK, and can foresee up to 50 AirSea seaplanes operating in the UK in time for the 2012 London Olympics.
"The potential market for a seaplane operation in the UK is huge. Passengers will be able to fly from the River Thames to the Cardiff Bay Barrage in less than an hour for the price of petrol for the car journey which would take three hours" added Earle.Ê
AirSea Lines operate scheduled seaplane services between eight Greek locations in the Ionian Sea and Brindisi, Italy.
The seaplane departs for its home base in Greece tomorrow around noon.Ê
